A LABOUR MP has revealed who he is backing in the party leadership contest.

Brighton Kemptown MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle said on Twitter he was backing shadow business secretary Rebecca Long-Bailey to be the next party leader.

He said the party needed “a new generation of socialists” to reach voters who “need” Labour.

The Salford MP is the main left-wing candidate in the leadership race and is expected to compete with shadow Brexit secretary Keir Starmer to lead the Labour Party.

The winner will be announced on April 4.
