A CANDLELIT vigil will be held this evening for a firefighter.

Anthony Knott was found dead in the River Ouse in Newhaven on January 10.

The 33-year-old father-of-four, from Orpington in Kent, had not been seen since a pub crawl with around a dozen other London Fire Brigade colleagues in Lewes on December 20.

A book of condolence will be opened in the Riverside shopping centre in Lewes tonight from 6pm, for anyone to sign and leave a message in Anthony's memory.

All are welcome to gather at the precinct in Cliffe Bridge at 7pm to leave candles and tributes.

There will be a two-minute silence at 7.40pm, followed by a prayer led by Reverend Jules Middleton.

Anyone planning to attend is asked to bring a jam jar for any candles, and to remember Cliffe Bridge is an open road with traffic passing through.

Flowers may be placed on the bridge or cast into the river after the event.
