A COUNCIL says it has issued a warning to a strip club after a registered sex offender was pictured naked getting spray-tanned with women.

Kenneth McGrath is a registered sex offender after he was convicted of paying for the sexual services of a child in 2017.

Brighton and Hove City Council has told The Argus it has sent a warning letter to the Pussycat Club after Kenneth McGrath was pictured with naked women.

Kenneth McGrath is the owner of the building in Grand Parade, Brighton.

The licence holder is his son, Kristopher McGrath.

A council spokesman said: “We have been sent the photographs and have carried out investigations.

“We believe they were taken during the day and therefore Kenneth McGrath is not breaching the conditions that were imposed on him by the court.

“Part of these are he’s not allowed in the building during the club’s operating hours, which are Friday and Saturday between 10pm and 4am. He does own the building and the conditions allow him to enter the club when it’s not operating, so we cannot take further action.

“We have issued the licence holder, Mr McGrath’s son, with a warning letter and will continue monitoring the situation.”

Kenneth McGrath was jailed for three years in 2017 after paying a vulnerable 17-year-old for sex on his yacht in Majorca in 2015.

The council spokesman said there are restrictions on the club’s licence regarding when Kenneth McGrath can be on the premises.

The spokesman said: “The restriction regarding Kenneth McGrath entering the premises applies to when the club is operating.

“That means the restriction applies when the club is open for business to the public for licensable activities, including exclusive private or corporate functions on weekdays or weeknights, as well as its normal opening hours between 10pm and 4am.”

The spokesman added: “The evidence we have received to date is inconclusive and does not prove Kenneth McGrath was at the club when it was operating publicly and licensable activities were taking place.

“This means it cannot be proven that he was in breach of the condition on the club’s licence. The case is open and if we receive further evidence that Mr McGrath is breaching the conditions of the licence we will investigate.”

The renewal of the licence for Pussycat Club was granted in November for a further year as no objections were received to the renewal.

The new licence states relevant entertainment shall be permitted at the premises Monday to Thursday, noon to 3am, and Friday and Saturday noon to 4am.

The licence also states the following conditions agreed between Sussex Police and the applicant in addition to the Standard Conditions (December 2017): Kenneth McGrath no longer has any input in the management, running or operation of the Pussy Cat Club, the company or any licensed activities and he does not enter the premises while licensing activities are taking place.

The club said it has not received a warning letter from the council and was unaware of any photographs.
