POLICE were called to a suspected ram raid on a village shop.
Thieves attempted to break in to grab the cash machine at the Co-op in Partridge Green, near Henfield.
The raiders targeted the store at 1.50am yesterday using a Ford Transit pick-up truck. They tried to batter down the security shutter.
But they failed and left the truck and drove off in a second vehicle.
Police said: “At about 1.50am on Tuesday an unsuccessful bid was made to break into the Co-op store in Partridge Green.
“No one was hurt. We are investigating and would like to talk to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the Partridge Green area during the early hours.”
