A RHYTHMIC gymnast wowed judges on a TV talent show.

Hannah Martin, of Burgess Hill, stunned the audience on the BBC’s Greatest Dancer on Saturday night.

She won a place in the competitive dance show’s live performances after putting her gymnastic skills into more choreographed use.

Home-schooled Hannah, 17, competed for England in the Commonwealth Games in 2018.

She appeared on the third episode of the show on Saturday – and won a place in the live shows on February 1.

The Greatest Dancer sees dancers of any age and dance style compete to win £50,000 and a chance to perform on Strictly Come Dancing.

Hosts Alesha Dixon and Jordan Banjo and dance captains Cheryl, Matthew Morrison and Oti Mabuse were all impressed with Hannah’s moves.

Alesha said: “My goodness.

“I’ve never seen anything like that.

Cheryl said “You took me breath aways. Like wow.”

“I just thought that was incredible.”

Matthew said: “What you can do is so diverse but then you can also try and tell a story.

“And you emote your face which a lot of rhythmic gymnasts or contortionists lack. I think you are very special.”

In the show dancers perform behind a mirror but if 75 per cent of the studio audience like their moves, the mirrors open and they make it straight back to the next stage of the competition.

Hannah’s proud mother Larna was in tears in the studio audience as she watched her performance.

Hannah finished seventh when she competed for England on the Australian Gold Coast aged just 15.

This time she is hoping to go all the way to the top.

At the time Hannah and her family lived in Hove and she trained at the iStar Academy in Shoreham.
