A MAN was detained under the Mental Health Act after a six hour stand-off with armed police.
Officers attended the flat in Broadwater Street West in Worthing last Thursday after a man threatened to harm himself.
The man had reportedly made threats to kill and to commit criminal damage, so armed police kept guns trained on the address. The police helicopter was also scrambled.
Police arrived at 8.30am and the stand-off lasted until 2.30pm. A man was arrested, then released under investigation but was then detained under the Mental Health Act.
