POLICE sent a search team and dog unit to a city centre street after two boys were seen “concealing unidentified items under their coats” in a shopping centre.
The pair were spotted “generally acting in a manner that drew attention to them” on CCTV by security staff in Brighton’s Churchill Square at 4pm on Tuesday.
They then walked to Cannon Place and up a ramp towards the Churchill Square car park before returning back down the ramp and heading towards Clarence Square.
Police and a dog unit responded to the reports but the force said there was “no trace of the youths and they have not been identified”.
Both boys were white, aged between 16 and 17 and slim.
One, who had short black hair, was wearing a black coat, black jeans, black trainers with white soles and carrying a black rucksack.
The other was wearing a black NY hat, grey hoodie, black coat, black trainers, a rucksack and carrying a white H and M bag.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Anyone who recognises them is asked to report online or call 101 quoting serial 936 of 21/01. Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
