POLICE have requested more time for their investigation into the suspected murder of a 24-year-old.
William Henham was found dead in a squat at 30-31 North Street, Brighton, on January 2.
At the inquest opening into his death at Brighton Coroner’s Court today, coroner’s officer Mike Bebee told the court a post mortem examination had been carried out and the provisional cause of death was given as a head injury.
DSI James Ansell said police are treating William’s death as a suspected murder case and requested more time for their investigation.
He said: “Early on five suspects were identified and arrested.
“They have been released under investigation.
“We need to carry out further forensic work and identify witnesses to submit the case to the Crown Prosecution Service.”
William, of Martyn Close, Henfield, was more commonly known as Billy, and was unemployed and single at the time of his death.
Coroner Veronica Hamilton-Deeley agreed to suspend the inquest and adjourned it until July 23.
