A DANGEROUS driver zoomed into oncoming traffic at speeds of up to 100mph before headbutting a police officer.
James Hutton was spotted by police on the A259 Marsh Road from Bexhill to Eastbourne.
Other vehicles narrowly avoided him as he approached the Pevensey Roundabout.
He tried to get away from police and went at speeds approaching 100mph as he straddled the white lines on the road in August last year.
The 30-year-old scaffolder ignored blue lights and sirens, and was only stopped when one of his tyres was punctured by the police.
At Lewes Crown Court he admitted dangerous driving, assaulting a police officer, and failing to provide a breath test.
Hutton also admitted a burglary in Freeman Avenue in Eastbourne in November, where he stole rum, cash, foreign money and a cheque book.
Police say he was caught after a resident heard a bang in the property next door, and saw Hutton climbing over a fence carrying a bag.
The neighbour followed, and told police where Hutton was, leading to his arrest.
Hutton, of no fixed address, was handed multiple concurrent sentences by the judge.
The overall sentence was two years in prison, along with a two year driving ban.
