A RHYTHMIC gymnast is through to the last eight of a leading TV dance competition with £50,000 up for grabs.

Hannah Martin, of Burgess Hill, once again wowed the judges on Saturday night as two more contestants were eliminated from the BBC’s The Greatest Dancer.

Hannah, 17, competed for England in the Commonwealth Games in 2018 but has now switched her focus to attempting to claim the top dance prize.

The winner will also have the opportunity to perform on Strictly Come Dancing.

Hosts Alesha Dixon and Jordan Banjo plus dance captains Cheryl, Matthew Morrison, Todrick Hall and Oti Mabuse were once again impressed as Hannah performed with aplomb.

Hannah is a member of Matthew’s team along with fellow competitor Harrison Vaughan, but the competition is now getting intense.

The other teams have also been whittled down.

Cheryl’s team is now down to duo Lily and Joseph and all-male contemporary dance group Brothers Of Dance.

Oti has contemporary group Vale and Latin and ballroom pair Michael and Jowita.

Finally, Todrick’s squad features contemporary performer Ainsley Ricketts and mixed contemporary dance group Dancepoint.

After her assured performance, Hannah said: “Thank you everyone for all the support.

“I have to say the last week has been tough but I am so grateful to be through to next week.

“I literally cannot believe it.

“Thank you so much to every single person who voted for me. I am also so pleased to be on Matthew’s team and am really looking forward to performing again next Saturday.”

Her performance also wowed her followers on Instagram.

Mike Cooper said: “Well done Hannah there was such great emotion in your dance.”

Ella Slingsby said: “That performance was absolutely incredible.”

Justin Mendoza said: “It was a breathtaking performance Hannah.

“Just amazing.

“Well done on making it to the next stage and keep on dancing girl.”

Another said: “Absolutely loved your performance.

“Well done and good luck for next week’s show.”

The Greatest Dancer continues live on BBC1 on Saturday evening.
