THE reason for the closure of a medical centre last week is still not known.
The Seaford Medical Centre was shut suddenly on Friday morning with staff saying this was due to a "health and safety" issue.
The Argus contacted the NHS Eastbourne, Hailsham and Seaford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) shortly afterwards and was told a statement would be given revealing the reason for the closure.
The Argus was later told this would be released yesterday.
But, upon contacting the CCG yesterday, The Argus was told all enquiries involving medical centre closures had been referred to Brighton and Hove CCG.
The authority yesterday confirmed that a GP at a separate medical centre (the County Oak Medical Centre in Carden Hill, Brighton) had closed and been deep-cleaned after a GP working there had tested positive for coronavirus.
But the reason for the closure of the Seaford practice still remains a mystery.
The medical centre reopened several hours after it had closed on Friday, with reports suggesting it had been "deep-cleaned".
