A FORMER Brighton teacher living in one of the areas worst hit by coronavirus has urged schools here to close to prevent the infection spreading.
The teacher living in Hanoi - on the Chinese border of Vietnam said: "In Hanoi schools have been closed for the second week.
"We border China and have dealt with this threat head on.
"Case numbers have remained stable and we don't anticipate this changing."
The criticism comes after five cases of the virus were confirmed in the city.
Several schools have been closed, GP surgeries closed and a nursing home shut.
"I lived in Brighton for 20 years and worked at many of the schools there.
"I am so very surprised and concerned about the Brighton outbreak.
"My fear is that hanging around waiting for cases will result in control being lost. I think the city needs to get radical.
"I think schools should close and work from home opened up temporarily, whilst we get a fuller sense of contagion.
"The moment is now to take control as in a week this could look very different. "
