BRIGHTON Pride bosses have broken their silence and announced the weekend's first headline act.

The Pussycat Dolls will close the annual celebration with a performance on the Sunday evening.

The band will perform a full 75 minute show and promise to bring "the biggest party ever" to the south coast this summer.

In a statement, the band said: "We are honoured to headline Brighton Pride.

"It’s such a massive and important event bringing everyone together for one big weekend of acceptance and love, which is what the Pussycat Dolls are all about.

"We can’t wait to share our show with you all and have the biggest party ever.”

The Pussycat Dolls were founded in 1995 and started out as a burlesque troupe.

The band has since achieved chart success with singles such as Don't Cha, Jai Ho! and When I Grow Up, selling more than 54 million records worldwide.

Tightlipped Pride bosses could not contain their excitement at the news and teased further line-up announcements for the 30th anniversary of the event in the near future.

Paul Kemp, director of Brighton and Hove Pride, said: "For our 30th anniversary we are really excited that LGBTQ+ icons The Pussycat Dolls will be headlining the FABULOSO main stage on Sunday, August 2, with a UK Pride exclusive performance.

"The Pussycat Dolls are the first of many artist announcements to come.

"Watch this space for loads of great LGBTQ+ performers and allies over the coming weeks.”
