AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a woman who fell from a seventh floor flat.
Nicola Redman was confirmed dead by emergency services at 6.04am on January 18.
The 33-year-old mother of two had fallen from a balcony at Clarendon House in Clarendon Road, Hove.
At Brighton Coroner's Court yesterday, coroner Veronica Hamilton-Deeley addressed Nicola's family, and said: "She fell from a substantial height and the injuries she sustained have caused her death at once.
Flowers at the scene
"The details are hard to listen to, but I think what you have to realise is it's you that suffers hearing them, whereas I think Nicky didn't."
DI Anna Martin of Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team requested the inquest be suspended, in order for police to carry out a full investigation into her death.
One man was arrested on suspicion of her murder and has been bailed until April 18.
The inquest was suspended until August 13.
