A PEDESTRIAN has been hit by a car in a busy road.
Police and ambulance crews are on the scene at the junction between Warren Road and Wilson Avenue in Brighton.
A passerby described seeing a large number of officers at the site and a series of cars parked up in a nearby layby.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: "We were called to a car versus pedestrian incident at 3.21pm.
"An ambulance is at the scene."
An AA spokesman warned drivers to expect delays in the area as a result of the incident.
He said: "There are reports of slow traffic due to a crash in Warren Road, at the junction with Wilson Avenue."
A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said the one ambulance crew had attended the scene after being called at 3.15pm.
He said: "The pedestrian reported back pain and was treated at the scene before being taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton."
