CHILDREN are being asked to inspire the city with their environmental designs.

Brighton and Hove Buses has announced a competition for primary school pupils.

Youngsters are being asked to think about how their actions can have a positive impact on their environment then write a sentence about their ideas and create a design.

All the shortlisted designs will be shown on screens inside the city’s new electric buses.

Two overall winners – one from key stage 1 and one from key stage 2 – will win a family day out, coach travel for a school trip and a goody bag.

The bus company has contacted all the city’s primary schools about entering the competition.

Some will let children work on their entries in class but they can also do them at home.

Brighton and Hove Buses’ managing director Martin Harris said: “We’re asking children to get their brilliant ideas down on paper and transmit their passion for the environment.

“I know there are many children out there who are already having a real, positive impact on their environment.

“We want to showcase what they’re doing and applaud it.”
