AN OPTICIANS has undergone a major refurbishment for the first time in more than two decades.

The Boots Opticians store in London Road, Brighton, has been reinvented with more than £175,000 worth of investment.

The shop is now reaping the rewards.

“Quite a few people didn’t recognise it,” said franchise owner Pritti Patel. “It looks amazing, I’m very happy with it.”

She took over the practice about a year ago and has been quick to make changes for the benefit of visitors.

The 39-year-old said: “I’m excited now to think about what the future might bring with these exciting new changes.

“We just want to give the best service possible to our customers.

“We have already had really positive feedback.”

New equipment will allow staff to carry out an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), a “hospital-quality” scan allowing staff to delve deeper into the retinas of their patients.

“An OCT scan can help to detect eye conditions like glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy much earlier than traditional eye testing methods,” Pritti said.

“Many common eye diseases can creep up on you, without any significant symptoms.

“So, even if your vision and eyes appear perfectly fine, it’s useful for your optometrist to check your eyes regularly.”

The shop was shut for 15 days as renovations took place, but is now back open for business.

Pritti said: “As a new female lone business owner, making my presence known in Brighton has not been an easy task for me. At my store we pride ourselves on our premium level of service and high standards of clinical care to give you the reassurance that when you visit my store you’ll know that you’re in safe hands.”
