A BANNED driver was caught behind the wheel while over the alcohol limit.
Jonathon Calleja was stopped in a Volkswagen Crafter on the A27 Arundel Road near Tangmere.
He tested positive for 125 microgrammes (mcg) of alcohol per 100 millilitres (ml) of breath.
The legal limit is 35mcg per 100ml.
He was stopped on January 21 by the police.
Calleja, of Vinnetros Road, Runcton, near Chichester, admitted drink-driving, driving without insurance and driving while disqualified at Crawley Magistrates’ Court.
The 53-year-old was jailed for 16 weeks.
Court documents noted: “The offence is so serious because the defendant committed the offences very soon after he was disqualified.”
He was ordered to pay a £120 fine, with a £122 victim surcharge and £85 costs for the prosecution. Magistrates also banned Calleja from driving for five years.
