A LUCKY schoolboy got to do his homework at the Albion.

Zach Keehan and his classmates in Year 4 at Stanford Junior School in Brighton were set the challenge of finding somewhere unusual to do their reading.

So Zach’s mother Lucy Yoxen set to work trying to think of somewhere extra special – and came up with the Amex at Falmer.

Seagulls fan Zach, of Patcham, said his trip to the stadium on Tuesday was definitely the most fun he has ever had doing his homework.

He said: “When my mum told me we were going to the Albion I was jumping around. I was so happy.

“I like reading, especially football books, but reading at the Amex is even better – definitely more than a ten our of ten.

“When I go back to school I think my friends will be amazed and all say that they wished they could do it to.

“I think it was a really good way to get me reading.

Lucy said: “Stanford Junior School set the children a challenge to read anything anywhere so I got my brain into action and contacted Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club.

“I kept it a secret while I was trying to organise it but he was super excited as soon as he knew.

“Zach is a massive fan, so this was a dream for him to step where the players change, play, interview and sit, all while having his head in a book.

“Albion where fantastic. Sam, who took us around, helped with picture ideas and helped Zach really get into the challenge in awe of his surroundings. This challenge set by the school, was a fabulous way to get kids reading again, which seems to be less nowadays, given the electronics they can’t seem to live without.

“Zach mainly likes reading football books but I think it is so important that they enjoy reading and this challenge really helped with that.

“I hope it shows more kids that reading is actually cool.”
