THE Brighton Fringe box office opens later this week.

A crane lifted the temporary building into its spot in New Road, Brighton, yesterday morning.

The box office, which will sell tickets for the Fringe which runs alongside Brighton Festival in May, are now on sale to members and general sale opens on Friday.

Chief executive Julian Caddy said: “It’s always a privilege to witness the launch of ticket sales for a new Brighton Fringe season.

“It represents both the culmination and development of the creative work of thousands of people.”

Last year’s event saw some 600,000 people visit and bring an estimated £20 million to the local economy. There were more than 4,500 performances and events, from cabaret to theatre workshops.
