THE Government has issued new advice for those returning from countries affected by coronavirus.

Several schools in Brighton have now told pupils to stay home if this latest advice applies to them.

Travellers have been told to self-isolate if they have returned from Iran, lockdown areas in northern Italy, and ‘special care zones’ in South Korea since February 19.

The Government said these people should stay indoors, avoid contact with others, and inform NHS 111.

The same advice applies to those who have returned from China’s Hubei province in the past 14 days.

This advice applies even if there are no symptoms of the virus.

Travellers to other areas have been told to self-isolate and call NHS 111 if they show symptoms.

This applies to those who have visited China, Hong Kong, non-lockdown areas of northern Italy or South Korea, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. It also applies to those returning from Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia or Vietnam since February 19.
