AN OLYMPIC ice skater has given a wardrobe full of dresses to a charity for terminally ill children.
Gold medalist skater Jayne Torvill has donated 30 dresses from her time as a judge on ITV’s Dancing on Ice to Demelza Hospice Care for Children.
One of the hospice’s charity shops in Hailsham will showcase a turquoise, strapless beaded gown belonging to Jayne at a “glamour evening” at 6pm on March 12.
Demelza Hospice Care for Children provides specialist care and emotional support for children with terminal conditions and also looks after their loved ones.
Jayne said: “As a proud ambassador of Demelza Hospice Care for Children, I’m delighted the dresses will be put to good use raising funds for the children and their families supported by this amazing charity, as well as raising awareness of the work Demelza does”.
The charity raises funds by selling of donated books, furniture, vintage clothing, bridal gowns, children’s fashion and household items. In March the branch will showcase dresses, bags and accessories “highlighting the importance of beautiful but sustainable fashion”.
