HOW wonderful to hear that the council have agreed a cross party budget for the coming new financial year. (Nancy Platts the Argus March 3)
She states in her column that “ this budget will deliver on our promises to residents”.
I certainly hope that the council will find a few pounds to clear the drains at the bottom of Knoyle Road.
Every time it rains heavily the drains do not clear the water away, producing a large pool of water which can spread way into Preston Road.
Pedestrians, including children walking to school, mothers with buggies, cyclists and the elderly have to walk out into Preston Road, which at busy times is dangerous.
I e-mailed the council a few months ago about this, I received a reply stating that due to “budget cuts” drains could only be cleared once every 12 to 18 months! I certainly hope that we do not have to wait a year, as somebody may be knocked down before that time.
