East Devon District Council has closed its offices due to a possible case of coronavirus.
A member of staff at Blackdown House in Honiton has returned from a high-risk country and is showing symptoms of the virus.
The office was closed at 12noon today (Friday).
A spokesperson for East Devon District Council said: “East Devon District Council will continue to provide services and apologises for any inconvenience caused to customers.
“This is a precautionary measure due to a possible case of coronavirus in a member of staff, returning from a high-risk country. They are displaying potential symptoms and although the risk is very low, we are taking the correct measures.
“All members of staff have been sent home and the majority will be able to continue working remotely.
“The offices will be thoroughly cleansed, according to recommended guidelines, over the weekend and we anticipate reopening early next week.”
