A ROGUE trader who exploited the elderly has been jailed.

Albert Brazil, 48, was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison for taking advantage of elderly and vulnerable residents in Angmering and Littlehampton.

He received £55,360 from two customers for building and roofing work that was grossly overpriced, unnecessary and, in some cases, not even begun.

Lewes Crown Court heard that Brazil, from Fullers Walk in Littlehampton, left his customers significantly out of pocket and needing costly property repairs.

One victim used life savings and pension funds to pay for the work.

Brazil was jailed on Friday for fraudulent trading and money laundering after an investigation by West Sussex County Council Trading Standards.
