COLOURFUL costumes from the world of comics, movies and television are set to take over a racecourse.

Next Saturday, March 21, Brighton Racecourse will be hosting Brighton Comic Con and Gaming Festival, featuring a variety of heroes and villains from the most popular shows and books on the planet.

It will run between 10am to 4.30pm and people are invited to dress up as their favourite characters, known as cosplaying, and take part in a range of activities.

A spokesman for the event said: “We’re back and bigger and better.

“There will be lots of things to see and do with activities, entertainment, displays and plenty of shopping opportunities.”

The event will have a cosplay zone with a cosplay competition.

There will be guest cosplayers, comic artists and guests from film and TV.

Organisers promise prop displays including a Tardis and Daleks from Doctor Who, a Viking throne and a Harry Potter set.

For fans of the Transformers movie, the Bumblebee hero will be there entertaining the crowds.

There will also be a Lightning McQueen car, Jack and Sally props from The Nightmare Before Christmas and a bike from the Sons Of Anarchy TV show.

For gamers, there will be a Gamers Bus, a Sega gaming area and a Just Dance area plus tabletop demonstrations from Asmodee – a French publisher of board games, card games and role-playing games.

Batman fans will have a chance to explore a Bat Cave with “Bat light”.

The spokesman said: “Parking will be free plus we will have a free shuttle double decker bus running to the venue from the train station starting at 9.15am back and forth.

“The disabled access is excellent and additional parking will be allocated for blue badge holders.”

It will cost £5 for children aged six to 13 years.

For adults and those over 14, entry will cost £9.

A group ticket for a ten people older than 14 can be purchased for £80.

Organisers say the event will be a “touch-free” event amid coronavirus concerns.

Those attending are being told to avoid shaking hands, hugging and kissing.
