A NERVOUS wrestler is limbering up for the fight of his life – and hoping a special move can save his skin.

Jonny Storm will be in the ring at a “charity grappling spectacular” in Peacehaven’s Meridian Centre tonight.

Fresh from bouts in Qatar and Germany, the 40-year-old pro-wrestler said fighting in Peacehaven would be the “absolute height” of his career.

It may come as a surprise, but Jonny is also frightened.

The 12-stone Premier Wrestling Federation lightweight champion said he dreads coming up against huge opponents like “Buddhist tough guy” Josef Kafka and “undefeated masked menace” The Phantom tonight.

But it’s Karl the “Man Mountain” Atlas he fears most.

Jonny said: “He weighs 17 stone and I’ve got to get in the ring with him.

“It’s scary in there. I’m not looking forward to the last-man-standing rumble.

“Honestly, you get some big, big guys and arms are flying everywhere.

“I’m liable to get thrown all over the place. There’s a lot of potential damage.”

But Jonny has a trick up his sleeve.

He has perfected a special move he hopes to unleash in the ring tonight.

“It’s called the ‘moonsault’,” he said. “Basically it involves jumping off the top of the ropes backwards and landing on your opponent.

“Because I’m a lightweight, I’m more acrobatic – hopefully I can use that to my advantage.”

Though Jonny knows the sport can be dangerous, he said the match tonight will be family-friendly and “blood and gore free”.

The fight will be a hybrid between traditional British wrestling and the performative style of WWE.

Jonny said the show would be “larger than life”.

The fight, in aid of the Mayor of Peacehaven’s charity fund, kicks off at 7pm on Saturday. Tickets cost £10 on the door.
