STUNNING Sussex scenery is the star of a new book which has just been released.

Sussex In Photographs by Philip Bedford features landmarks of both natural and man-made origin.

The book takes you though the ancient Saxon villages right though to the modern city streets of Brighton and Hove.

Philip, a professional landscape and wedding photographer, said: “Planning landscape photography shoots is pretty meticulous, usually exclusively based on the season and the position the sun will rise and set depending on the time of year.”

The book description reads: “Sussex is famous for its superb coastline, from Hastings to Bognor Regis, and its rural locations including the South Downs National Park, the South Downs Way and the Sussex Weald.

“During the late 18th century, the county became famous for seaside resorts such as Brighton and Worthing and today tourism is still a major industry.

“Further back in the county’s history it was the setting for William the Conqueror’s victory over King Harold in 1066.

“Later, in World War II, Sussex was at the forefront of Britain’s defence, with its many airfields and the preparations for the D-Day landings taking place there.”

Sussex In Photographs by Philip Bedford is the culmination of five years spent photographing the county’s landscape and coastline.

The book features landmarks ranging from Chichester Cathedral and Brighton’s Palace Pier to Ditchling Beacon and Beachy Head, captured in all kinds of weather and seasons.

The countryside is peaceful, and its views over the glacial valleys of the South Downs National Park are breathtaking.

The book is out now and costs £17.99.
