A HEALTHY fast food chain has unveiled a new menu of gut-friendly food packed with nutritious ingredients.

Leon says its “good for the gut” range is simple and seasonal but will remind diners how good plants can taste when they are grown well.

But do not just take their word for it.

Argus staffers gave the range rave reviews when the chain dropped a package off at the office.

“The vegan turmeric cauliflower salad was delicious,” reporter Sam Brooke said.

“In my opinion the best vegetarian food is the Middle Eastern stuff so it’s good to see more of it being sold.

“The chargrilled cauliflower especially was really flavoursome.”

With red peppers, spiced chickpeas, pickled raisins and red onions the cauliflower salad is certainly the most colourful item on the menu.

But there are plenty of other delicious dishes to choose from, all focusing on reliable, pliable chicken.

The zesty chicken and avocado had our mouths watering with its chargrilled chicken thigh and avocado topped with a delightful ranch dressing.

The chicken shawarma salad also went down well at the Argus office.

Tender harissa chicken studded with pomegranate seeds is served with peppers, baby plum tomatoes, a herby slaw and garlic aioli.

Meanwhile the paleo pesto chicken is chock full of protein thanks to its mix of chargrilled chicken thigh and charred Mediterranean vegetables with cashew nut pesto.

For something a bit lighter, the greens and grains salad made from chargrilled fennel and courgette with wild rice, quinoa, oat groats, and dill will go down a treat.

But the menu does not stop at savoury.

Breakfast items include a turmeric honey and granola pot with date-sweetened granola and banana.

Meanwhile the acai berry and almond butter smoothie pot is the perfect treat to start the day with an energy boost.

Its acai berry smoothie base is topped with coconut almond butter, granola, bananas, blueberries, and cacao nibs.

Kefir shots are also available at all Leon restaurants now.

The taste is hard to put your finger on, but with healthy probiotics and 50 billion gut-boosting bacteria you can’t argue with the results.

A Leon spokeswoman said the new menu would take diners “on an adventure in flavour”.

“This new menu is packed with delicious fruit and veg that’s full of colour and flavour, and great for your gut,” she said.

“Our menu brings the earth alive with some big hitters that’ll remind you how good plants can taste when they’re grown well, prepared simply, and eaten seasonally.

“Recently launched in Sainsbury’s are Leon’s small – but packing a big punch – Kefir Shots which are now available across all Leon restaurants.

“Kefir Shots are made with British milk and blended with 50 billion live cultures and probiotics to create a mighty shot that’s good for your gut.

“This March, we’re taking consumers on an adventure in flavour.”

Leon’s new menu is available at all branches now.
