HIGHLY-RATED indie/post punk band the Brave Faces will be launching their debut single In the Dark on Friday.

Having already made waves in their home town of Brighton the new single is also creating quite a buzz and there will be a promotional video to follow.

The band say they are heavily influenced by Eighties post-punk, shoegaze and contemporary indie,

They are already renowned for bristling melodies and sweeping soundscapes and there is plenty of evidence of that with In the Dark.

With melodic guitars and driving industrial drums, In the Dark features glimmering chords, dreamy synths and palm-muted melodies which provides a stark soundscape for the singer’s cold commentary. The backing singer’s reverberating falsetto adds to the overarching feeling of uneasy catchiness.

“In the Dark explores power within a relationship,” says the band.

“The song is delivered from the perspective of someone offering up fumbled clichés as apologies, desperately trying to save face after the latest in a series of breaches of trust.”

In the Dark is the first of three tracks recorded by the Brave Faces with Dave “Izumi” Lynch (who is renowned for his work with Toploader, Jake Bugg, The Magic Numbers) at Echo Zoo Studios in Eastbourne.

The Brave Faces will release their next two tracks, Lots of Nights Out and It Takes a While, later in the year, alongside a string of live performances around Brighton and London.

There is still no confirmation of when the band’s debut album will be released although with three tracks already sorted, it is hoped there will be further news by the end of the year.

In the mean time keep an eye out for live dates although they have yet to be confirmed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic which has seen so many gigs postponed.

In the Dark was mastered by sound engineer Pete Maher, who has previously worked with U2, Pixies and Nick Cave.

Photos of the band were taken by renowned photographer Ian Howorth with the artwork concept by Benoit Sharp.
