AN inquest into the death of a woman found dead at her home has been opened and adjourned.

Laura Reid was discovered on her sofa in Valley Road in Portslade on February 11.

Brighton Coroner’s Court heard the 52-year-old had fallen asleep and her husband had been unable to wake her.

Emergency services attended the scene but Mrs Reid was confirmed to be dead.

A post mortem examination was carried out and a provisional cause of

death was given as heroin toxicity.

Coroner Veronica Hamilton-Deeley adjourned the full inquest until September 7.

Last week it was announced that all inquests where families or witnesses are expected to attend would be adjourned until at least August due to the coronavirus crisis.

Ms Hamilton-Deeley said: “Even the adjourned date will be unreliable until we have a better idea of progress through this current difficult time.”
