TOWNS across Sussex have committed to staying at home to stop the spread of coronavirus.
This follows Prime Minister Boris Johnson imposing a lockdown on Monday evening.
People were ordered to stay at home wherever possible, only leaving for essential trips such as buying food and medication - as well as one daily bout of exercise.
This morning, police forces and photographers have snapped deserted town centres as the lockdown enters its second day.
A series of images showed empty Worthing streets and seafront.
Two people with shopping trollies were pictured greeting each other from a distance. Both were wearing masks.
Meanwhile Sussex Police officers patrolling in Lewes praised people for following the government advice.
A spokesman said: "Early foot patrol and, from what I have observed so far everyone, is taking the government advice.
"Shops that are open are using a maximum number of members of the public allowed in system, and a queuing system is in place at Waitrose.
"Stay safe and follow the government advice."
