A resident has been busy making special arm bands to protect those self-isolating.
Jim Barr, who works at Coastal Nets, came up with the idea of the band, which reads Vulnerable Isolating Person.
He said: “I came up with the idea after seeing how upset my parents were at being told to isolate and not come into contact with people. They love walking their dog so I thought something like this would help them.
“We have sewing machines at work and I have the labels printed by Bridport Banners so I knew it was something we could do easily. There are other people helping to sew the labels on.
“People have said they are great and that their parents are able to go out comfortably.
“They are not for profit and I am taking donations for the Dorset County Hospital charity.”
Jim has been contacted by many groups across the South West who want to use his arm bands so there may be a waiting period for orders.
He would like to make it clear that the arm bands are not to be worn as an excuse to go out or go to the shops, they are for people to self-isolating to be able to exercise to help with social distancing.
