PICTURES show how empty the beach is today.

Brighton  beach is almost deserted as police challenge people at the station and residents observe social distancing measures.

Pictures from across the beach show it near empty despite the sunshine as people stay at home in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Police officers are challenging people at the station as they enforce the Government’s new strict measures announced on Monday.

Residents are avoiding the beach after pictures from last weekend showed many flouting the social distancing guidelines.

One resident, who was doing their daily exercise near the beach, said: “What a difference a week makes as Brighton seafront and beach is almost totally deserted today at lunchtime.”
