THE family of a missing teenager is urging people to light a candle for him this evening at sunset.

Owen Harding from Saltdean has now been missing for a week.

His mother Stella is appealing to the public to "reach out at the same time" by lighting a candle, doing a sunset meditation or saying a prayer this evening at 7.30pm for ten minutes.

Supporters are urged to take pictures of their candles and sunsets and post them on social media using the hashtags #candleforowen and #findowenharding.

Posting on the Sunset Prayer for Owen Facebook event, Owen's family wrote: "Please can you post your beautiful pictures of your candles or sunsets.

"We will all come together for Owen's safe return.

"Shortly afterwards at 8pm we have the Clap for the NHS campaign which we will fully support.

"It will be an evening of hope, love and community spirit near and far."

Owen was last seen leaving his home between 6pm and 7pm last Thursday.

The 16-year-old has been described as having an athletic build, and is around 5ft 9in with short brown hair.

He normally wears white trainers, tracksuit trousers and a dark hoodie. When he went missing he is thought to have been wearing dark joggers.

Sussex Police are asking for anyone who sees Owen or knows where he could be to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 1198 of 26/03.
