A CHILDREN’S charity is urging supporters to take on a new fundraising challenge after it had to postpone an annual event.

The Chailey Heritage Foundation near Lewes, which supports children and young adults with complex physical disabilities, was due to hold its Focus 10k event on May 31.

The run, which was going to be at Borde Hill Garden near Haywards Heath, has been postponed due to the coronavirus crisis.

Instead, the charity has launched its ‘Focus 10 Stay’ challenge and is asking people to do ten of something – such as press-ups or laps of the garden – and to video it and share it on social media with the hashtag #stayconnected.

Head of fundraising Nina Gopal said: “What’s important now is that we stay connected with our supporters who are part of the Chailey family, so we have worked with our fantastic sponsors’ Focus Group to create this event.

“If people challenge their friends or work colleagues to take part too, we can really get the connection going.

“We’re looking forward to seeing just how creative people can be, and at the end of the ten days we will be showcasing some of the videos to put to a public vote, with a prize for the winner.”

The Chailey Heritage Focus 10 Stay challenge runs until Sunday, April 12 and is open to anyone, regardless of age or ability.
