A SUSPECTED drug dealer was arrested after a high-speed police chase.

Officers were alerted to an Audi in Brighton city centre on their number plate recognition system, but when they approached, the car pulled away.

A helicopter was called in to support the pursuit as the car drove into Hangleton on Monday afternoon.

The vehicle was eventually stopped in Downland Drive.

Police say a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

The suspect remains in custody after the incident.

The Argus contacted police at 5pm yesterday and had a response this morning.
