A CHARITY has published a list of ways to improve mental health during the coronavirus crisis.

Brighton Therapy Centre in New Road wants to promote good wellbeing during the lockdown and a period of uncertainty.

The centre has published advice on its website with a list of recommended daily activities to help anyone who is struggling.

Individuals are advised to practise ‘distant socialising’ and to call someone they are close to at least once a day, even if they are feeling low.

The list recommends that house-sharers and families have regular catch-up meetings to communicate with each other and manage any conflicts.

Director Howard Edmunds said: “In times like these our mental health can suffer and we don’t always know it’s happening.

“People are suddenly thrown together and they have to find ways of being together for long periods of time which they are not used to.

“House meetings might sound a bit naff but they they can actually be really important to establish lines of communication and a structure for dealing with any problems.

“Listening is the foundation of good communication.

“We are also still open for remote therapies, as for some people, having someone outside the family who they can talk to in confidence can be really important.”

Other tips for good well-being during the crisis include exercising in the fresh air at a distance from others, staying hydrated and eating regular meals, breathing exercises and taking time to do things you can enjoy at home.
