THE number of recorded deaths in Sussex has risen.

The batch of data, released daily by NHS England, shows the number of deaths registered by each NHS trust.

The figures do not include deaths outside of hospitals, such as care homes.

Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust operates hospitals supporting the Crawley and Horsham areas, as well as parts of East Sussex.

It has now recorded 67 deaths, up 7 from the day before.

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust operates hospitals in Eastbourne, Bexhill, Rye and St Leonards.

It has now recorded 21 deaths, up one in 24 hours.

Brighton and Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs the Royal Sussex County Hospital and the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, has now recorded 22 deaths – up eight from the previous day.

The Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust, which provides care across the area, has now recorded six deaths – up two from the previous day.

Recorded deaths at Western Sussex Hospitals Foundation Trust, which has sites in Chichester, Worthing and Shoreham, have leaped to 26 from five within the last 24 hours.

In total there have now been 142 deaths in Sussex trusts.

Confirmed cases of coronavirus are broken down by top-tier authority.

Brighton and Hove now has 86 confirmed cases, one more than the day before.

East Sussex climbed from 161 to 181 and the West Sussex total reached 266.
