A SUPERMARKET planning to open a new store is canvassing for opinion on its proposal.

Lidl has submitted an application to Brighton and Hove City Council to refurbish the vacant former Toys ‘R’ Us unit at Goldstone Retail Park in Newtown Road, Hove, into a food store.

The supermarket has contacted residents by post to invite them to give their opinion about the proposal.

Lidl says the development would provide up to 40 new jobs to the area, and would bring “an unused vacant unit back to life”.

The store said other benefits would include”bringing Lidl’s high-quality, low-cost products to Hove” as well as 280 shared car parking spaces, with 19 disabled spaces and 16 bicycle spaces.

Residents can also email their opinions to northfleet.property@lidl.co.uk.

The council is due to make a decision on the proposed development by Friday, June 5.
