THE number of recorded deaths in Sussex has risen.

The batch of data, released daily by NHS England, shows the number of deaths registered by each NHS trust.

The figures do not include deaths outside of hospitals, such as care homes.

Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust operates hospitals supporting the Crawley and Horsham areas, as well as parts of East Sussex.

It has now recorded 76 deaths, up nine from the day before.

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust operates hospitals in Eastbourne, Bexhill, Rye and St Leonards.

It has now recorded 24 deaths, up three in 24 hours.

Brighton and Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs the Royal Sussex County Hospital and the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, has now recorded 25 deaths – up three from the previous day.

The Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust, which provides care across the area, has now recorded six deaths – the same as the day before.

Recorded deaths at Western Sussex Hospitals Foundation Trust, which has sites in Chichester, Worthing and Shoreham, have increased to 29 from 26 within the last 24 hours.

In total there have now been 160 deaths in Sussex trusts.

Confirmed cases of coronavirus are broken down by top-tier authority.

Brighton and Hove now has 155 confirmed cases.

East Sussex climbed from 181 to 229 and the West Sussex total reached 320.
