ONCE again Councillor Wares and Councillor Nemeth report thousands of complaints about rubbish and uncollected bins in Brighton and Hove and other areas of the city.
Back on Friday, September 7, 2018, the convener of the Green Party wrote an article saying that waste management was a mess under Labour, but now they are in bed with Labour running our city.
When the head of Cityclean took over the job in October 2018 she stated in The Argus “give me six months” to get things sorted out.
Can you imagine if a supermarket was losing money and they bought in a manager and after six months it was in a worse state. Would he/she still be a manager a year later?
But it seems whatever this council touches they lose the residents tens of thousands of pounds, for example the i360, the Valley Gardens scheme, and the bike share scheme with the latter being the latest example.
Yet the council will not publish how much this is costing residents.
These were schemes that neither businesses or our residents wanted.
Still after all this time they are using the same excuses such as lack of manpower and sickness when it comes to rubbish and uncollected bins.
Maybe if they had not wasted money on unwanted schemes they could have used it to sort out this mess, or is it a case of you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours or jobs for the boys or girls.
