DAME Vera Lynn has extended a personal message of love and best wishes to the theatre industry in a new and free online film, which has been produced by Dominic Ferris from Shoreham.
“We’ll Meet Again”, which features West End stars including Alfie Boe, premiered on April 24 on the Official London Theatre’s YouTube Channel: https://youtu.be/dTWy9jim7Mw.
The technical process of assembling “We’ll Meet Again” took place in Dominic’s Southwick recording studio. All of the West End artists and Capital Voices choir members recorded their videos singing along to Dominic’s piano track and then submitted them to be included in the final montage.
The video features socially-distanced West End stars united in reassurance that West End and UK theatres “shall once more rise and thrive – some sunny day”.
Alfie Boe, Blake, Gyles Brandreth, Sharon D Clarke, Jonah Collier, Bill Deamer, Louise Dearman, Kerry Ellis, Shaun Escoffery, Ferris and Milnes, Maria Friedman, Bradley Jaden, Cassidy Janson, Joe Pasquale, Hannah Waddingham, Layton Williams and Michael Xavier all feature.
Pianist and producer Dominic oversaw the collaboration and said: “I’ve worked with some wonderful artists over the years but it’s not often I have the privilege of assembling so much talent into one song.
"The cast of “We’ll Meet Again” includes some of the finest theatrical performers this country has to offer and I’m so grateful to all of them for giving their time and sharing their love for the theatre world.
"My theatrical roots began in Hove where I was inspired by several mentors from a very young age. In these uncertain times, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to give something back to theatre professionals and fans alike, assuring them that their passion will live again”.
Musician Léon Charles, grandson of “We’ll Meet Again” composer Hughie Charles, is delighted the song has once again proved an inspiration.
He said: “It is about optimism in the face of uncertainty that those who were close, but for now, apart, will be together again, some sunny day. I’m thrilled that my grandfather’s music is being performed in the spirit it was intended.”
