THE status of a popular summer concert is still unknown due to the coronavirus crisis.

Singer Michael Bublé is set to play at Sussex County Cricket Ground in Hove on August 7, but the promoter has not yet confirmed if the event will be cancelled or postponed because of the pandemic.

A spokesman for the event promoter AEG said: “In light of recent Government advice in relation to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, we are working hard to bring you information regarding upcoming events as quickly as possible.

“As soon as there is an official notification of any changes to events, customers will be contacted by their point of purchase.

"We appreciate your patience and understanding at this time.”

A spokesman for Sussex County Cricket Ground said: “We are in constant contact with the promoter, AEG Presents.

“Any decision will be taken in light of all Government advice.”

Earlier this month it was confirmed that this year’s Brighton Pride festival, which was due to take place on August 1 and 2, has been cancelled because of coronavirus.

Popstars Mariah Carey and the Pussycat Dolls were set to take to the stage in Preston Park, on what would have been the festival’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

The Love Supreme festival, which normally takes place in Glynde in July, has also been cancelled.
