NHS TRUSTS have recorded more deaths of hospital patients who had contracted coronavirus.

Three more are reported to have died at sites operated by Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, which is responsible for the Royal Sussex County Hospital, in the last 24 hours. This takes the trust’s total to 104.

One more death was recorded at the Western Sussex Hospitals Foundation Trust, which has sites in Chichester, Worthing and Shoreham. Its total is now 84.

Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust’s figure remained at 205. No more deaths were registered at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust or Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust. Their totals are 65 and 15.

There have now been 473 deaths of coronavirus patients at Sussex hospital trust sites. This total does not include others, such as those who have died in care homes.

Cases also increased across Sussex. Over a 24-hour period, the figure for West Sussex rose from 1,185 to 1,211, East Sussex climbed from 613 to 627 and Brighton and Hove reached 390, up four.

Nationally, 201,111 people have tested positive and 30,076 have died after contracting the virus, as of 5pm yesterday, an increase of 649 in the 24 hours to this time.
