Pavers Ltd began in York in 1971 when Catherine Paver started selling shoes by party plan in private houses and village halls. Catherine had always found shopping for shoes difficult because she could never find what she wanted without trouble over the fitting.

Catherine's need to find comfortable but stylish shoes, that were suitable for her sensitive feet, was clearly a need shared by many. The first store opened in Scarborough and others quickly followed in York, Hull and Newcastle upon Tyne.

After ten years or so Catherine was joined by her three sons. In 1996 Pavers opened its first outlet store in North Shields which again proved to be a great success, offering the same top brands and great quality but at 30% off the recommended retail price. Many more followed.

Late in 2002 Pavers opened another discount outlet at Unit 10, The Waterfront, Brighton Marina, Brighton. For the last five years it has been a popular choice for tourists and locals alike, where they know they will find friendly, knowledgeable staff in a relaxed atmosphere with a huge range of quality shoes at great prices. Today, Pavers has 58 stores in the United Kingdom and Ireland and employs over 600 people.
