I was interested to read about the local Quaker history here in Brighton (The Argus Weekend, November 10) and especially amused by the story of the Prince Regent who had an eye for beauty.
It reminded me of my former father-in-law who was an elder of the Quaker meeting house at Jordans, Buckinghamshire. I was always impressed by the total silence at meetings until someone was moved to speak. The building was said to have been built with timbers from the Mayflower.
