My mum has just broken her hip, at the age of 50.
They say it's due to "thin bone disease". Does this mean I'm more liable to get it?
Yes. Your mum has the condition called "osteoporosis", which affects huge numbers of British women in the second half of life. In fact, about a third of all females will break a bone because of it.
To avoid getting it, you need to take plenty of exercise throughout your life. Also, don't smoke and keep your alcohol intake moderate.
