A MAN who broke into a shop and made off with the till on a stolen bike has been jailed.

Known offender Dean Stacey Jackson, 32, was put behind bars after a glove with his DNA was later found next to the empty till on Brighton beach.

CCTV shows he cycled to Electric Bikes Sussex in Brighton Marina on his own bike late at night, forced his way in, stole the till containing a small amount of cash, and pedalled off on a new £2,500 bicycle.

He then threw away the till, and a beachgoer found it on the shingle later the same day.

A glove left next to it was forensically analysed by Sussex Police and found to match Stacey Jackson’s DNA.

The burglary took place just after 1am on December 2.

Stacey Jackson was arrested and charged with burglary.

He pleaded guilty, and at Lewes Crown Court on April 29, he was sentenced to a total of 18 months’ imprisonment.

Several other offences were taken into account at the sentencing.
