On Saturday a large group of young teenagers from Woodingdean joined many other residents from the village for a massive clear-up in the fields behind Bexhill Road.
They donned coats, hats, scarves and gloves and despite the awful weather picked up rubbish that has been fly-tipped there for 30 years or more and loaded it into vehicles supplied by CityClean.
This was the first of many such sessions organised by Woodingdean tenants and residents association that are going to be needed before the area is completely cleared.
Many thanks to all those who took part and in doing so showed their commitment to making Woodingdean a better place to live.
- Dee Simson, Conservative councillor for Woodingdean, Brighton and Hove City Council
